Dr. Victoria Dickerson is a nationally acclaimed and widely
published clinician, teacher, consultant, and lecturer who
specializes in working with young women in their twenties and early
thirties. A practicing clinical psychologist for more than
twenty-five years, Dr. Dickerson presents workshops and lectures
extensively throughout the country on narrative ideas and
practices -- a way of thinking and working that understands people's
experiences as influenced and shaped by cultural ideas and beliefs.
She is recognized as one of the
leading authors and practitioners of narrative therapy in North
America and is one of the first among a handful of therapists to
adopt these ideas, which were made popular in the United States in
the 1990's.
An adjunct professor at Santa Clara
University Graduate Counseling Psychology Program, Dr. Dickerson
presents workshops at national professional organizations such as
the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and the
American Family Therapy Academy. Dr. Dickerson was also the
co-founder and editor of a large mental health Internet site. She is the former director of two
therapy training centers in California, and has given workshops
nationally and internationally to agencies and local organizations.
A member of the American Family Therapy Academy, Dr. Dickerson has
been active on its Board and has been program chairperson for the
organization. Currently she is the chairperson for the Committee on
Family Policy. She is also a clinical member and approved supervisor
for the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.

co-author of the book, If Problems Talked: Narrative Therapy in
